Tokyo Bowl: A Taste of Authentic Japanese Cuisine in Vernon Hills

Good servings of colorful plates, with varied vegetables. Loved the eel. The garlic in the rice was a nice surprise, but had too much mayo IMHO.

Atmosphere – 2.5 Stars Overall Service – 3.5 Stars Food taste – 4.5 Stars Food presentation – 4 Stars Pricing – $ Inexpensive Summary – Great little Japanese restaurant with great tasting dishes. Decoy was average but the menu was very simple yet with lots of options. I believe their focus is ramen and you order by first choosing a broth, meats in ramen and a side dish if you want to 3.00 more I believe. Food came fast but still taste amazing, it is a good place to grab a quick bite.

Not going to lie; when I first tucked into the food I was surprised that this place had such high reviews. I mean, the ramen was super salty and the rice for the sushi was... interesting. Then I remembered what I was paying for this and just how nice the guy was that gave me the food. Was a spicy roll simply some spicy mayo and siracha on top? Yeah, but it was still good! Was the Tonkusou Ramen too salty? Yeah, but it was still delicious! Especially for the price. I'd say, this place is priced perfectly for exactly what you are getting, It is definitely not a place to get sushi but when you are getting 3 rolls for less than $20... you are getting exactly what you paid for and you will absolutely enjoy it if you remember that. I love the fact that their ramen had corn in it, as a homage to norther Japan style ramen which I am a fan of. I also give major props to a soy marinated par-boiled egg.... well done! Sushi left much to be desired but the value was absolutely there. It means a lot when the person working the place is super friendly and makes you feel good when coming in. The guy there today (11/24/2022) was so nice and really put a personality to the place. I will happily visit here again to feed a family of 4 for $50.

Food is amazing! We ordered ramen bowls. I recommend the soy sauce base and the bul go gee. Bowl could easily be shared, very filling. Also had the salmon cream cheese roll which was very fresh. Ramen with a side was $20, ($15 without side), which I recommend as we had too much food. Bottled drinks are expensive at 2.99. Will go again, but order less. Restaurant atmosphere itself is somewhat depressing. Also be prepared for a non-stop tape of Christian music. Prob better to carry out.

you must to come here for ramen! there is no better place to get ramen in this area. not sure how i've never been here before, huge miss on my part. service is fast, portions are large, and flavors are on point. definitely coming back to try their other ramen options and poke bowls. + the owners (assuming they were) were so sweet and adorable! ordered: tonkatsu ramen with pork cutlet, shio ramen with tempura shrimp, tonkatsu with chashu (not pictured), and the kobap king (not pictured).

Amazing small restaurant hiding in the left strip mall across the road from Rustoleum. Delicious Ramen with multiple options for soup base and topping, and incredibly fresh sushi, all at a very reasonable price (~$14).

I was looking for a place along my drive to get a good lunch. I definitely found it at Tokyo Bowl! I was greeted when I walked in and needed a few minutes since it was my first time here. They waited patiently for my order and it came out pretty quickly after I ordered. I was getting the food to go and it was packed up very nicely. When I opened it up, The smells were fantastic and the container was full. The food tasted as good as it looked and it was a good portion size. I would definitely stop here again when I am in the area. You should too! You won't be disappointed! I'm looking forward to some of the other menu options!

The food was delicious. We took home leftovers because it is a big serving. My daughters favorite food is ramen and she loved the pork broth.
